Deuteronomy 6 4 ⁣“Hear, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord is one! 5You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. 6These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart.

"Chatta," the Hebrew word for "sin" is translated that way to make you think religious rather than civil. Satan did that to conceal the fact that God is a King and a King is the sole governing authority of the Kingdom. As the King, he is the only judge who can pronounce a judicial decision and therefore breaking the "law" of a King is a civil crime which is a moral issue. So the Hebrew word "Chatta" should have been translated as "crime' and "sinners" which is the Hebrew plural "Chattaim" should be translated as "criminals" because it is a plural adjective.
