‘De twee mannen namen mij mee naar het Noordelijk
gebied en toonden mij daar een erg vreselijke plaats,
er waren allerlei soorten martelingen op die plaats,
meedogenloze duisternis en onverlichte somberheid,
er is daar geen licht, maar een duister vuur dat
voortdurend omhoog spuit, waar een vlammende rivier
uit voortkomt. Overal op die plaats is dan weer vuur,
dan weer vorst en ijs, dorst en beven, terwijl de
Boeien ontzettend gemeen zijn, en de engelen
angstwekkend en genadeloos, gruwelijke wapens
meedragend, meedogenloos martelend.
En ik zei:
‘Vreselijk! Vreselijk! Wat verschrikkelijk beangstigend
is deze plaats!’
En de mannen zeiden tegen mij:
‘Deze plaats Henoch, is gemaakt voor hen die God
onteren, die op aarde tegennatuurlijk zondigen, zoals
kindermisbruik in de anus, zoals in Sodom gedaan
werd, tovenarij, bezweringen en duivelse hekserij.
Wie opscheppen over hun slechte daden, stelen,
liegen, lasteren, afgunstig zijn, rancune hebben,
ontucht, moord, en die in het verborgene de ziel van
de mens stelen, de arme bij de keel grijpend, hen hun
eigendommen afnemend, zichzelf verrijkend met het
bezit van anderen, hen bedriegend. Zij die, als zij in
staat zijn om ondersteuning te bieden aan de
gebrekkigen, de hongerige laten sterven, in staat zijnd
te kleden, de naakte uitkleden. Zij die hun Schepper
gekend hebben en zijn neergebogen voor zielloze en
levenloze goden, die niet kunnen horen of zien, ijdele
goden, (zij) die ook gehouwen beelden maken en
neerbuigen voor onrein handwerk, voor hen allemaal is
deze plaats als eeuwige beloning klaargemaakt.’’
