Experiment #2 – Forge Build Success!
After several trials and adjustments, this video documents the successful build and test of a super simple, wood-fueled forge—built entirely with rocks, dirt, and a hand-crank blower.
In this second (and final) video of the blacksmithing forge build experiment series, I demonstrate how I managed airflow, fire control, and overall forge performance using a side-blast design powered by a manual blower. This setup is ideal for anyone interested in self-reliant blacksmithing, off-grid living, or building a forge using nothing but basic, found materials.
If you've been following the series, this marks the conclusion—for now. The forge is fully operational. 🔥

Welcome to Experiment #1 of my blacksmithing forge build series.
In this video, I begin testing ideas for building a forge that’s extremely simple, efficient, and made from basic, easily available materials. The goal is to strip blacksmithing down to its essentials—no fancy equipment, just fire, steel, and practical problem-solving.
Whether you're a beginner, a homesteader, or just curious about minimalist forging setups, this series is for you.
Topic: Forge Fire Management
Objective: Control heat effectively using a somewhat primitive setup

In this video I demonstrate how I cut on the line with a handsaw.

I had a lot of fun making this super sharp knife out of a piece of suspension coil. The blade was forged in the fire and shaped by hammer and hand. The handle was shaped with an angle grinder and wrapped with paracord.
Shoutout to @halfspin for teaching me the paracord wrapping technique I used on this knife.
You can check out the method by watching the following video: https://youtu.be/XU70nfBAmIM?si=JpNck9cZnAzk-58g

I have been using this method to filter my drinking water for the past five years. The charcoal and sand need to be replaced once every three months, approximately, depending on the quality of the water that you are filtering.
