There is an amazing phenomenon concerning the angels that are sent from God. This phenomenon has left more than a few perplexed about their existence. Throw Satan in the mix, and you can be sure that many who believe that angels exist are deceived about their nature and purpose. In this—what I hope to be a—brief article, I want to provide you with some insight that you need to know to understand who angels are and what their priority is on the Earth.

The Hebrew word for angel is Mal’ak מַלְאָךְ.

The Greek word for angel is “angelos” (ἄγγελος).

Both words simply mean “messenger.” Now if you understand the Greek and Hebrew languages, you know that the English translation—if you want to call it that—is simply a transliteration of the Latin Vulgate translation of the text. Simply put, the word angel in English is a transliteration of the Latin translation of the Greek word for messenger. In Latin it is “angelus,” in English it is “angel,” which is a transliteration.

I bring this up because Satan is a master at confusing terms so that he can apply a deception to it and deceive the whole world. This is why most of the world views angels in the “way” that they do today. The prophets saw things a different “way” because God was the one feeding them insight. It is the same “way” with the word “Christian.” The Latin Vulgate translates the Greek word as “Christiani.” The Greek word is “christianos.” It should not be hard to see that the Latin is a transliteration of “christianos.” But what does it mean? The meaning is the translation or interpretation of the word. Transliterations just match consonants for consonants and vowels for vowels. But I digress!

If you understand the above, you will see how Satan used a transliteration to create a deception of what the Apostles of God were working to accomplish as they handed down the truth to those who came into the church. But Satan had plans and designs, which is why he substituted the “way” of the Lord to plant his deception in the teaching and call it Christianity. Which is why my genetic Hebrew brothers have a hard time with terms like Christian and Christianity. They can’t see that Ol’ Sloughfoot threw a transliteration on the teaching, which is called the “way,” and inserted lies mixed in with the truth. Causing them to throw the baby out with the bathwater. And those who call themselves Christian can’t even see the truth because they believe the lies that are mixed in with the truth. So, both parties are impure. But let me tell you what Moses thinks about the situation:

“‘You are to keep My statutes. You shall not breed together two kinds of your cattle; you shall not sow your field with two kinds of seed, nor wear a garment upon you of two kinds of material mixed together.” Leviticus 19:19

If you can’t see the truth in this statue, then maybe you need to rethink your understanding of the truth, but for those who really want to learn, here is my advice. You have to see things from Moses’ perspective because God used what Moses learned to hide the truth about Jesus Christ—the Living Word of God.

The Egyptians believed that their god of the dead—Osiris—was a grain of seed that sprouted. The seed germinates—comes to life—and sprouts from the ground, providing wheat for the eater. The believers of Osiris (the eaters) make bread cakes in the shape of his body and believe that if they eat it—that is, the bread—they will also attain eternal life. This image is reflected in Jesus' statement:

And Jesus *answered them, saying, ‘The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. 24 Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.” John 12:23-24

Jesus, who is the living word of God, compares his death to a seed of wheat that must be planted in the ground. You can choose to ignore that this is a mocking image of what the Egyptians believed about Osiris if you want. I’m just showing you how Moses and Jesus thought concerning the “Way.” The purpose for which I truly brought this to light was to show you that the word of God is a seed. That seed cannot be mixed in the same field as other seeds. The field is the Earth in which we live. Any other seed in the earth comes from God’s enemy. Those seeds are the lies that he plants, waiting for those who have no love for the truth to consume.

Getting back to the angels! The messengers of God carry and deliver God’s word to those to whom God wants to engage. The phenomenal thing about these messengers comes from the fact that they can deliver a message in various ways.

The messenger of God can appear in person:

Now it happened that while he was performing his priestly service before God in the appointed order of his division, 9 according to the custom of the priestly office, he was chosen by lot to enter the temple of the Lord and burn incense. 10 And the whole multitude of the people were in prayer outside at the hour of the incense offering. 11 And an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing to the right of the altar of incense. 12 Zacharias was troubled when he saw the angel, and fear gripped him. 13 But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your petition has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you will give him the name John. 14 You will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth.” Luke 1:8-14

The messengers of God can appear to you in dreams:

But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.” Matthew 1:20

The messenger of God can also appear to you in a flame of fire:

The angel of the LORD appeared to him in a blazing fire from the midst of a bush; and he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, yet the bush was not consumed.” Exodus 3:2

That is certainly an amazing way to get someone’s attention. In each situation, the messenger of God is present to give you the message for which he came. I hope you are getting the message! Now let’s talk about their nature. The scriptures give us insight into what these beings are like but not what they are literally. Which means God wants us to understand them from the aspect of how we can understand things on earth. So let’s take a look.

Bless the LORD, O my soul!
O LORD my God, You are very great; You are clothed with splendor and majesty, 2 Covering Yourself with light as with a cloak, Stretching out heaven like a tent curtain. 3 He lays the beams of His upper chambers in the waters; He makes the clouds His chariot; He walks upon the wings of the wind; 4 He makes the winds His messengers, flaming fire His ministers. 5 He established the earth upon its foundations, so that it will not totter forever and ever
.” Psalms 104:1-5

As you can see in the bolded portion of the text, the Psalms state that God makes his messengers as winds (ruach) and his ministers as flaming fires, with these ministers being one and the same as messengers. If you don’t keep in mind that the writer is speaking parabolically, you will run off planting seed that doesn’t belong to God. The messengers carry a message, and that message comes when the wind blows because he makes his messengers winds—that is, ruach. These winds carry words. I’m just telling you what the imagery is all about.

By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.” Psalms 33:6

Now, of course, I’m going to tell you that the translator is hiding the truth because they are not being honest about how they translate it.

“ בִּדְבַר יְהוָה שָׁמַיִם נַעֲשׂוּ וּבְרוּחַ פִּיו כָּל־צְבָאָם׃”

Can you see the problem there?

“ בִּדְבַר יְהוָה שָׁמַיִם נַעֲשׂוּ וּבְרוּחַ פִּיו כָּל־צְבָאָם׃”

What about now? I underlined it for you.

The problem is that they translate “Ruach” as breath when “Ruach” means “wind” but for the sake of giving you the next terrible translation, “Spirit.”

By {the} Word of Yahuah {the} Heavens {were} made by him and by {the} Wind of his mouth all their host.” My Translation

This is what you call Hebrew parallelism, which is a literary device in which two or more lines of a poem are closely related to express a point. So the word and the breath are related to express the point. And as I told you, God’s word travels on the wind, whether it is from his mouth or from his messenger, who is made like a wind. It is important that you keep in mind that this is all parabolic imagery to help you understand things from God’s perspective.

That wind can affect the senses, as Job said:

““Now a word was brought to me stealthily,
And my ear received a whisper of it.
13 “Amid disquieting thoughts from the visions of the night,
When deep sleep falls on men,
14 Dread came upon me, and trembling,
And made all my bones shake.
15 “Then a spirit passed by my face;
The hair of my flesh bristled up.
16 “It stood still, but I could not discern its appearance;
A form was before my eyes;
There was silence, then I heard a voice:
17 ‘Can mankind be just before God?
Can a man be pure before his Maker?
18 ‘He puts no trust even in His servants;
And against His angels He charges error.
19 ‘How much more those who dwell in houses of clay,
Whose foundation is in the dust,
Who are crushed before the moth!
20 ‘Between morning and evening they are broken in pieces;
Unobserved, they perish forever.
21 ‘Is not their tent-cord plucked up within them?
They die, yet without wisdom
.’”Job 4:12-21

If you are having a hard time seeing, then maybe adjust the prescription for your glasses. Let’s give you another look at it from another perspective:

I’ll show you a time when God allowed a wind to blow on a prophet and caused a deception to come out of his mouth:

Then the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “Did I not tell you that he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?”
19 Micaiah said, “Therefore, hear the word of the LORD. I saw the LORD sitting on His throne, and all the host of heaven standing by Him on His right and on His left. 20 The LORD said, ‘Who will entice Ahab to go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead?’ And one said this while another said that. 21 Then a spirit came forward and stood before the LORD and said, ‘I will entice him.’ 22 The LORD said to him, ‘How?’ And he said, ‘I will go out and be a deceiving spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.’ Then He said, ‘You are to entice him and also prevail. Go and do so.’ 23 Now therefore, behold, the LORD has put a deceiving spirit in the mouth of all these your prophets, and the LORD has proclaimed disaster against you.” 24 Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near and struck Micaiah on the cheek and said, “How did the Spirit of the LORD pass from me to speak to you?
” 1 Kings 22:18-24

I can answer that question for Zedekiah with no problem. Jesus told us how this is possible:

The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit.” John 3:8

But here is the best warning I can give you, and it comes from John:

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.” 1 John 4:1

The sad, hard facts that come along with attempting to test the spirits are you must know what he means by the Greek word “pneuma,” which is the same Greek word translated as wind in Jesus’ statement above, and it is the same word in the Septuagint translation for the Hebrew word “Ruach.”

Until the next time!
