Shalom Family! The day after we marked 400 years since the first enslaved people were brought from Africa to America, Hebrews in America met with our family from Uganda to discuss Torah, our commonalities, differences and how we can unite. We have a special message to the sisters in the diaspora from our Sisters keeping Torah in Uganda. Sister Shoshanna who was just accepted into Hebrew Union Rabbinical School in NY, Sister Simcha who is one of the youngest elected Secretaries for the Abayudaya Jews of Uganda and Sister Hadassah who helps led the women of the Abayudaya Jews encourage sisters in the diaspora to keep Torah!
🛑 We apologize for the NYC sounds. If you have a hard time hearing the sisters are talking about their Torah based women’s empowerment programs this is not feminism or any ism but Torah. 👈🏿👈🏿👈🏿

Isaiah 11:11-13
It shall come to pass in that day That the Yahuah shall set His hand again the second timeTo recover the remnant of His people who are left, From Assyria and Egypt,From Pathros and Cush, From Elam and Shinar,
From Hamath and the islands of the sea.
He will set up a banner for the nations,
And will assemble the outcasts of Israel,
And gather together the dispersed of Judah
From the four [c]corners of the earth.
Also the envy of Ephraim shall depart,
And the adversaries of Judah shall be cut off;
Ephraim shall not envy Judah,
And Judah shall not harass Ephraim.

In November 2017 I was blessed to visit Yahweh Our Redeemer Sabbath Synagogue (YORSS) in Imo State, Nigeria to minister to the women. Last Shabbat I was blessed with a visit from my YORSS family: Rabbi Joshua Olouah-Johnson, Mother and High Court Judge AdaZion Onii Egbunine (who was invited to America to represent Nigeria at a international conference for judges) and Abigail Onii Egbunine, Social Media Minister for the Synagogue and Medical Student. They visited my home congregation Beth-El The House of Yah.
Rabbi Johnson gave a powerful word concerning Hebrew identity, faith and a warning to America concerning the California Wildfires.

Many African and Asian countries have banned the recruitment of domestic workers for countries in the Middle East who subscribe to the “kafala” system.
Under the system, foreign maids are legally bound to their employer and have limited rights.
Employers can take advantage of their position and many women are overworked, underpaid and physically abused.
Testimonies from women who escaped and private recordings show a world of powerlessness and abuse, hidden behind closed doors.
This week’s Africa Eye, “Maid in Hell” is part of the “Why Slavery?” series from THE WHY.

Rosamond Asiamah was the first woman recruited into Ghana's police force in 1952.
Her family and former colleagues told the BBC's #TheSheWord programme how she led the fight to change the rules for female police officers, so that they were allowed marry and have children just as male officers could.
"If that had not happened, we would have had less women in the police service than we have now," said Ghana's Commissioner of Police Beatrice Zakpaa Vib-Sanziri.
Rosamond, who recently celebrated her 90th birthday, still enjoys spending time with her fellow retired officers.

BP agreed to pay around $10bn (£8bn) to a businessman involved in a suspicious energy deal.
The energy giant bought Frank Timis' stake in a gas field off the coast of Senegal for $250 million in 2017.
But documents obtained by BBC Panorama and Africa Eye reveal that BP was also projected to pay his company between $9bn and $12bn in royalties.
Both BP and Mr Timis deny any wrongdoing. Read the full statement from Mr Timis here: https://bbc.in/2NOQP4j
Update 9 July 2019: BP did not dispute the $10 billion figure prior to publication, but has subsequently said it is wholly inaccurate and exaggerated.

Johann Friedrich Blumenbach (11 May 1752 – 22 January 1840) was a German physician, naturalist, physiologist, and anthropologist. He was one of the first to explore the study of the human being as an aspect of natural history. His teachings in comparative anatomy were applied to his classification of human races, of which he claimed there were five, popularizing the term Caucasian for people of those of generally found in Europe, western Asia, India, north Africa, and the Horn of Africa (including Somalia and Ethiopia).
Blumenbach's peers considered him one of the great theorists of his day, and he was a mentor or influence on many of the next generation of German biologists, including Alexander von Humboldt and forerunner of modern euro-centric supremacist ideologies.
