As I studied Hebraic Marriage Customs Knocking during the betrothal (engagement) process is one custom that is only persevered in Africa and even in the African diaspora.
After teaching a workshop on Black Biblical History in Brooklyn a Elder Mother from Guyana a South American country where many enslaved from Africa were taken shared with me that they brought the custom of Knocking with them.
