I just spent 3 weeks in Ghana with my family. At the historical museum when the instructor mentioned the Ga people and their customs, specifically how inheritence was passed down thru the Father (patrileneal), I said out loud "Hmm, they sound like Hebrews" . The Ghanaian history instructor smiled, and chuckled a bit. Later on I asked him if i heard the 5 main tribes correct as I read from my notes. He told me no, and asked for my phone to write them down for me.. The Ga-Adangbe, who migrated from Nigeria, this was confirmed by Your Excellency John Mahama himself as he recently made an address in Nigeria (he is quite close to Nigerians). So that was my first confirmation. Then shortly after I heard another YouTuber indicating that the Ga or Ga-Akangbe were Hebrews that migrated from Nigeria when its economy was going thru significant trials. Ghana and Nigeria share a deep, sometimes contentious history. But we who have done even a bit of research know that Nigeria has large concentrations of those descendants of the 12 tribes of Jacob. The instructor corrected me when I called out the Ashanti tribe as one of the 5 largest. I've heard too that they were Israelites, but had a hard time believing it in my heart given their reign, rumors of being involved in the slave trade to name a couple reasons. Anyway, the instructor said that the "Akan" tribe is one of the 5 largest in Ghana today (as of Dec, 2025). I've also seen that they were likely of Israelite descent.
